Argentine International Lionel Messi is about to get paid in a big way after news came out the Barcelona is set to offer the 22 year old a 230,000 Pound a week contract that will run through the end of 2016.

What is even more staggering is that the deal works out at a staggering £167,000 a week net for the player, which dwarfs John Terry’s new contract and Emmanuel Adebayor’s and Robinho’s deals at Manchester City.

Those three players are the best-paid in the Premier League but their deals, worth about £160,000 a week, will leave them with around £80,000 net after the new 50 per cent tax rate is applied.
