With FIFA President Sepp Blatter and UEFA President Michel Platini very vocal on the crackdown of Transfers under the age of 18 and Chelsea on the wrong end of a ban until the year 2011, attention is now turning towards Manchester City after FIFA recieved a complaint for Ligue 1 side Rennes over 17 year old Jeremy Helan.

Manchester City insist they have acted “within the rules” over the signing of the 17-year-old defender Jérémy Hélan after Fifa, the world governing body, confirmed it is investigating a complaint by the French side Rennes.

Rennes made their complaint after City signed the French teenager earlier this year but City say there was already a civil court dispute between Hélan and Rennes before he moved to Eastlands.

City said in a statement: “Manchester City are aware of the ongoing contractual dispute in the French Labour Courts between Jérémy Hélan and Stade Rennais. The dispute between the player and the club pre-dates any interest from Manchester City.

“Manchester City obviously cannot comment on the case until the French judicial process has run its course. However, we are comfortable that we have acted within the rules throughout the process and in no way induced any breach of contract by Jérémy Hélan.”

Fifa confirmed it is looking into a complaint by Rennes, saying: “There is a case pending with Fifa’s Player Status Department involving Jérémy Hélan, Stade Rennais FC and Manchester City.”

FIFA and UEFA are going to get alot of complaints in the coming months with this diving ban on Eduardo and the transfers with the Chelsea player. I guess that is one way for Platini to limit the spending in England. Just ban the teams from signing anyone. I cant wait for the first person to dive against Arsenal in the CL and to hear Arsene’s comments after the match.
