Getafe x Burger King?

getafe

I saw this picture over at Kickette, and for some reason I had to put it up.There is no particular point to this post, it’s just the Burger King sponsorship of Getafe has kind of thrown me off a bit. I’m not sure it it’s the thought of a fast food company sponsoring a professional team, or if the logo on a jersey just looks really wrong. I’m also not even sure how long Burger King has been the shirt sponsor for Getafe, but something about this is just off…

And then somebody posted a link in the comments of this post with a picture that I had to add to this. Apparently you can become THEE Burker King when you score a goal by flipping the Getafe jersey over your head. This is one of the most awesome / disturbing things I have seen in a long time. It might be time for me to cop a Getafe jersey…

Its not limited to the outside of the shirt… score a goal, flip up the front of the shirt and you are now the burger “KING”

I wish I had the coin to get jerseys like that for my indoor team!

Unfortunately the shirts with the King face are only a promotional item, you can’t get them in stores. After seeing the above picture I emailed a friend who works for the marketing company that did this deal for BK. He said there were 100 made and the shirts are hot items amongst employees. Maybe ebay?

If they ever make it to market, please post a link here because I am willing to drop mad coinage for one.

I’m thinking of a Bumpy Pitch shirt or jersey that rocks Dunny’s or Beans’ face for a goal celebration.
