Concave Boots

I got a package in the mail today from the folks over at Concave.  They sent me a pair of their new boots they are getting set to drop, and these are definitely an interesting pair of soccer cleats. According to their site, they are trying to change the boot game by updating a traditional boot and giving it a much larger sweet spot.

Every so often a product category is ready for an evolution - an evolution that will take the game to the next level. Many of us have seen the impact that the oversized tennis racquet head and the over sized golf driver head have had on the games of tennis and golf. Simply the worlds of tennis and golf have never been the same.

The game of football is about to evolve - and we would like to thank you for taking the time to learn about the evolution. The Concave football boot will change the game of football forever – Game Evolved.

I haven’t had too much time trying them out yet, but I will say they definitely have an oversized instep that definitely sets it apart from more traditional boots.

This last picture gives you some sense of the instep I mentioned. The laces are tucked underneath the large covering that is the instep. They definitely are going for something new with this one. How well it will be accepted will be the big question.

Just like Under Armour, it’s difficult for people to accept a new football boots. But from the design, I’m interested. People have such tunnel vision with predominantly Nike - Adidas and it can be stifling.

The top (tongue) is interesting. Different than the traditional boot, and even different than the modern, creating an upper platform rather than lower…

Wonder how they shoot, that seems to be the previous trend, now it’s speed…

I have had too much bad luck with Adidas lately, soles tearing after 1 season. I am in the market for some new boots come spring and I have been seriously considering all boots. UnderArmor have my interest and need to check them out as well as Puma v1.08 only because I have the street version and they are amazingly light and thin. Interested in getting some info once you have a chance to try them out so write a follow-up once you do.

I think these will go for around $200. Concave is the brain child of Norwhich and former Melbourne Victory Michael Theokoltis and I know he has put amazing amounts of research into the boot. I think it will def put some folks off, but if thier is a segment of the players who will benefit, then I say it is a good thing.
