Sol Campbell’s League Two journey with Notts County ended after just one match after the 35 year old came to an agreement with the club to walk away from the 5 year / 40,000 Pound a week contract that was just signed back in mid August.

County have confirmed his five-year, £40,000-a-week deal has been cancelled by mutual consent and the club have offered to replace any replica shirts bearing his names that have been bought by fans.
Campbell has returned to London and could find himself unable to play for another club until the transfer window opens again in January.
Sources at both the Premier League and the Football League indicate he would not be allowed to walk straight into one of their clubs, despite being a free agent, unless he can prove he has a just cause for quitting Meadow Lane.
Campbell packed his boots and said his goodbyes after training on Tuesday as his gamble to drop out of the Barclays Premier League backfired spectacularly. His single appearance coming in Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at Morecambe.
County executive chairman Peter Trembling said: ‘While we are disappointed that Sol felt that he could not adjust to the long-term nature of the project underway at Notts County, we obviously wish him the best with the remainder of his career and hope that he is able to obtain a place where he can play at International level ahead of the 2010 World Cup.’
Despite the best wishes, Trembling could not resist having a dig at the speed with which Campbell threw in the towel.
‘He joined five weeks ago on a five-year contract as part of the long-term project, but ultimately he’s come to the point, having been here five weeks, where he has decided it’s not for him.
‘Sometimes people make wrong decisions and Sol has decided this is not where he wants to be now.
‘Perhaps things are not happening as quickly as he thought they might. We can’t just become a Premier League club overnight. That is how it is. If he doesn’t want to play here, we don’t want him here.’
