When MLS Clubs “Re-Brand”…Who’s Next?

Five years ago the Dallas Burn became “FC Dallas” and embraced a new name, new logo, new marketing, and a new stadium in Frisco.
Now, from Steve Davis, “I’m hearing through the league grapevine that at least one club out there is considering a spin on the re-branding wheel”…

Hopefully it’s the Revs, that logo needs to go!
Real Salt Lake? Does Spanish royalty have any relevance at all to Salt Lake City?
Failing that, Chivas USA. Those names are downright embarrassing. They scream, “this league doesn’t have it’s own identity”.
I think Real is fine in its own goofy way.
However, Chivas USA is a massive FAIL. With the success that club has had on the field, if they became the anti Galaxy and embraced all of SoCal, not just Mexicans, they might actually be successful off the field.
My bet is San Jose…

Chivas should rebrand to Club Mexico. Then they could really rival Club America.
My guess is Kansas City. The Wizards is a terrible name.

It has to be the Wizards. I can’t think of a worse name in the league right now. San Jose has already been rebranded once, they were the Clash.

Really not hard to do. Re-brand to Club Salt Lake and rearrange the white seats that spell REAL into CLUB. Really not hard. But I doubt Cheketts has the wisdom to do such a move. Dude is so in the dark about the sport.
My bet is it has to be the Wizards. Many clubs could use a re-brand. Fire, Revolution, Crew, Red Bulls, Earthquakes, RSL and Chivas. But Wizards is the worst right now and considering their situation it makes the most sense.

Chicago Fire. It refers to the great fire Chicago had back in 19…err… a long time ago. It’s relevant to the city.

Yeah - it celebrates a tragedy hundreds of people died in and sounds like a WNBA name. Good brand.
New York Red Bull was brilliant! If the product don’t give you a heart attack the team will.
