Sven Goran Eriksson and Notts County have pushed aside their Sol Campbell situation and signed Nigerian striker Ade Akinbiyi, the 34 year old fresh off his Major League Soccer experience with the Houston Dynamo.

The 34-year-old former Leicester City, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Bristol City and Burnley had been a free agent and has agreed a contract to the end of the season.

He has most recently playing with US Major League Soccer side the Houston Dynamo.

Akinibiyi is director of football Sven Goran Eriksson’s first signing since Sol Campbell was released just a few weeks into a lucrative five-year contract at Meadow Lane
