Fabregas' comment about the first touch is an important one that I think a lot of young players, especially in America, don't understand. So often, young players focusing on emulating the fancy dribbling moves of soccer superstars. And yet I am always frustrated at MLS games by the poor first touches and traps made by professional players. Improving their first touch would increase their play by far more than an fancy dribbling or back-heel pass.

I hope more players of Fabregas' level mention the importance of fundamentals like the first touch.
