It’s been 20 years since the Dutch FA had a training kit sponsor other than Nationale-Nederlanden and with that the deal running it’s course, Dutch Insurance conglomerate ING Group has stepped in to pair up with the KNVB through the 2018 World Cup.

At least the color schemes make sense…

The twenty years sponsorship from Nationale-Nederlanden has come to a close, and the ING logo will now be displayed on all Dutch training equipment beginning in 2010. The long-term agreement is to last eight years, until the World Cup 2018.

ING, named ninth-largest company worldwide by Forbes in 2008, has been involved in football as a sub-sponsor since 1996. The company is now making moves to increase their activity in Dutch football.
