Filed under: ContestsUPDATE - Congrats to the winners of this contest, Adam and Jason… For those of you who didn’t win, definitely more cool ish on it’s way.
We here at BP_TOW have been talking about it since January and now with the movie opening today in NY and LA (and quickly expanding into multiple cities), the good people behind The Damned United have given you guys an opportunity to win one of two Full Size Posters. The only catch, you must live in the United States.
Just hit the comment section below and let us know why it would look good on your wall…. We’ll choose the winner tomorrow.

I teach Film Studies and coach soccer at a high school in Orange County. This is a perfect combination of both worlds. I can put it up in my classroom along with my other soccer stuff and the kids will love it. Plus you are helping education.
The English dudes that always come into my bar always gave me hell about everything football related, and for being a “damn yank”. That all changed once I dropped some knowledge on them and laid a beat down on them in fantasy epl. Putting this poster on the wall and seeing their jaws drop to the floor would be awesome! Dudes wouldn’t know what to do.
I don’t need it, but Brian Clough was one of the best characters of the game, so whoever wins it needs to have it in a very public place!
I have a uncle who got me into English football by introducing me into the pageantry of the FA Cup when he took me to go see Liverpool at a bar in LA in the early 1990s. When we were talking there he told me about the great respect that he had for the english that came when watching Nottingham Forest in the 80s. He idolized Clough for all the tactical skills as well as his great personality. He’s a little older now, a little grayer but if anyone deserves this poster for a present, its him.
I just want to say that I am a new fan to soccer, actually the start of this premiership season marks the start to my second season of following Arsenal. But over this past year I have realized that I DO love arsenal, but I am a fan of all football teams. I had the honor of seeing this movie a few days early and must say that I am kind of sad that Brian Clough is no longer with us because he is a figure I would have loved to have met.
But this poster would look great on my wall because I am a freshman in college and play intramural soccer just so that way I have the game in my life other than watching it, and also the paper print outs of robbie keane and cesc fabregas just dont cut it much. haha.
thanks guys at TOW.
I just bought a new house and have a few scarves and a jersey for the downstairs bar, but nothing that could constitute a centerpiece. This would look great on the big open ocean of a wall I currently have and would make a nice conversation piece!
It’s not that the walls of my office are bare–they certainly aren’t. But what IS on the walls isn’t me at all. A diploma, certifications…, I went to school for almost two decades to do something that I kind of like doing. The truth is, I think about soccer most of the day. From the line-up for the USMNT to replaying events from my co-ed Sunday Rec league game in my head (I know–sad), I always kind of feel like I should be somewhere else. What better way to remind me to pursue passion and leave the other stuff on the walls behind (or at least let everyone know I am *this close* to doing so)?
Legends such as Brian Clough are few and far between in the modern game. Today, players and managers focus more on wealth and celebrity status and less on what football is all about: Blood, Sweat and Tears! We are in desperate need of a new Cloughie. We should find a way to bring him back from the dead so he can give Drogba and Ronaldo a good slap across the head and make them realize that it’s football that made them who they are, not the other way around. My guess is that if he was around today, he would make his players ride to training on bicycles, not in their Aston Martins.
Brian Clough may be dead, but he will live forever on my bar room wall!
I would love to have the poster, it would look great in my apartment and go with my new hobby of buying UK films that are soccer themed.
I’d love the poster because I’m an aspiring screenwriter…. who am I kidding. I like drinking, soccer, and movies. Church!
It would look great next to my copy of the book, which I picked up in London.
I know that the song in the background is none other than Geraldine by Glavegas,a band from Glasgow. Brian Clough will always be a legend and one of the best in the game. I also support the citizens of Manchester….not the “Damned” United.
Cmon Citehhh!!!!
I’m finishing up my senior year at an uptight, no-nonsense Bible College where I’m going to be a minister upon graduation. I’ve played for the school’s soccer team all 4 years and Having “Damned” on my dorm room wall would be great way to stick it to the man while expressing my love for the game a little!
I’m at a dorm at Marquette and my walls are bare. Hook a brother up so I can rep the beautiful game.
Good choices TOW. and I just watched the movie, it really is an amazing movie. Pickin it up on DVD right when it comes out.
