Manchester City’s Robinho is reportedly continuing with his public admiration of La Liga Champions Barcelona while recovering from a foot stress fracture in his native Brazil.

The Brazil star, who joined the Eastlands club from Real Madrid for £34million on September 1, 2008, has been heavily linked with a move back to Spain since failing to live up to his whopping transfer fee at City.

It is there, in Brazil, that the forward spoke to a radio station about Barcelona’s reported interest in signing him.

Robinho said: ‘I’m very happy for the interest that Barcelona have shown in me because playing in the Nou Camp is much easier to be the best player in the world than to do so at City.’

The former Real and Santos star appears not to have a problem with Manchester City boss Mark Hughes but he is clearly attracted to a move to the Nou Camp.

‘I’m not trying to force my departure from England, and I have no problem with my coach,’ Robinho added in an interview with Brazilian station Radio Bandeirantes.

‘I’m going through a good moment, my level of football had a drop in performance. I’m very aware that I have to improve and I think now is the time when I explode.’
