While Beckham was in Cape Town participating in the draw, Donovan was at the Nike Soccer Shop in New York City when he learned the Americans would open their campaign against Beckham’s England on June 12, 2010.

“It will be a great game to start off with,” Donovan told Goal.com. ““I haven’t talked to [Beckham] yet, but I’m sure we’ll be texting and maybe even place a friendly wager.”
