“Scores of South American footballers already swear by the treatment in which beer is mixed with a plant once used against witches.

Now they have alerted pals in the Premier League to healer Manuela Jara, who reckons her beer baths can nail any woes.

Last night a Premier League source said: “She has a lot of South Americans who regularly fly over to Paraguay from Europe to get in her healing bath.

“God knows what this stuff really does but if they believe it helps then let them do it!”

The plant used in the treatment, called rue, was an ingredient of spells in the Middle Ages and considered a defence against witches.”
