Dunny was in town this weekend doing the U-17 Nike friendlies for Fox Soccer channel, so I headed down to the studios to link with him and catch up with some of the FSC crew. I was there on Friday, so the place was in full production mode as the World Cup draw had taken place a few hours earlier.
Those shadowy figures in the background are Max, Christopher Sullivan and Bobby McMahon. This was the first time that I actually met Bobby McMahon and Dunny and I rapped with him about some of the hot topics in world soccer at the moment. Really cool guy and great being able to talk shop with him.
It’s crazy seeing a show being taped. We spent a little time in the production room while they were filming and there is a lot of activity taking place to make sure that they are getting the show they envision. The directing of the show, the coordinating of cameras and the managing of a lot of moving parts reminded me a bit of how a conductor operates. The final product that you see on TV takes a lot of effort and a lot of people.
I really wanted to press some buttons…
This is the booth where Dunny and Rogondino called the Nike games they were doing. A couple of monitors, mics and some headphones…
It’s always cool to get a peak behind the curtain and see how things are made. Every time I go down to the studios I see something different and learn something new. It’s also great that there are dedicated folks, like the ones at FSC, that are committed daily to bringing all of us as much soccer content and footage as they possibly can.
