Just days after the confirmation that his professional commitment to Notts County is officially over, former England International Sol Campbell has been linked to Manchester United.

If you’re wondering how much legs this has, the 35 year old has actually allowed himself to be quoted on the possibility.

“I have heard nothing officially from Manchester United, but there have been suggestions and of course, it would be a great move for me, if it happens,” he said. “I shall just have to wait and see if a call comes through the right channels.

“Of course I would love to play for Manchester United, but I am not counting any chickens, just waiting to see what happens,” he told ESPN soccernet. “I am training as usual at Arsenal, and would go to train at Manchester United if I was asked.”

The reports claimed Campbell would be offered a six-month deal if he could prove his fitness. The defender played just one game for Notts County after his surprise move there and he has played little competitive football this season.

However Campbell believes he is fully fit after training at Arsenal and can help United to counter the loss of Rio Ferdinand, John O’Shea, Jonny Evans and Wes Brown to injury.
