In a press conference two days before the final day of the Club World Cup UAE 2009, FIFA president Sepp Blatter has made it clear that he’s very satisfied with the way things have gone so far .
“The president Mohammed Khalfan Al-Rumaithi was being too humble when he said they will do better next year. It is not possible, because the organizational skill, premises, stadiums, hospitality, media arrangements, transport and everything has been the best,” said Blatter
He continued to say that:
“This competition is [in place] to level up football. It’s FIFA’s jewel in the crown to have the best teams of the confederations here. You will have realised that there is still a gap between what we call the traditional teams, where football has been played since the beginning of the 20th century, and the rest.
“This is a competition in which entertaining football is played – look at the two semi-final matches we’ve just witnessed. The teams here want to present spectacular football. We will definitely be happy to be back next year and I’m sure it will be another wonderful competition.”
To the idea of using replay at some point in FIFA competitions, Sepp Blatter remains adamant that soccer will not use replays to review decisions as long as he FIFA president. Blatter said on Thursday that world soccer’s governing body will “not use monitors to stop the game” and that bad refereeing decisions must be accepted because “there are always errors in life.”
