Russell Latapy and the Trinidad & Tobago National Team have added former England U-21’s Bobby Zamora and Jlloyd Samuel ahead of their CONCACAF World Cup Qualifiers against Honduras and the United States.
In Honduras but not on the team is T&T great Dwight Yorke, who was expected to announce his international retirement shortly.
Zamora did not meet the Soca Warriors in Miami on Monday for their connection to Honduras and was expected to see a specialist this week before a decision on his availability would be made.
San Jose Earthquakes forward Cornell Glen is also among the players who began training in San Pedro Sula Tuesday for Saturday’s game. Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder Chris Birchall withdrew because of an injury.
A loss to Honduras will means T&T will face a must-win situation against the U.S. if it hopes to have even a shot at fourth place — and a playoff berth — in the Hexagonal.
Yorke played in T&T’s qualifier against El Salvador last month but has failed to find a team for the 2009-10 English season. He spent Tuesday inspecting facilities in San Pedro Sula with the T&T technical staff.
