David Beckham has been invited to return to AC Milan next year after making another huge impression on the club’s hierarchy.

Only two games into his second loan spell at the San Siro, Beckham’s early form and physical condition prompted Milan’s vice-president Adriano Galliani to hint another deal could be struck in the future.

‘David Beckham is the man that I am courting the most,’ said Galliani. ‘For him the doors of Milan are always open.

‘Beckham is marvellous for the six months he is with us and for the six months he is not with us. I am more than happy to open the doors of Milan in July or January or at any time whenever he wants. He is a fantastic man and player. You should see him in training.’

He has started both games since the Italian winter break, – wins against Genoa and Juventus – but will try to resist the idea of further loan spells at Milan, at least until summer.

Beckham will return to the Galaxy after this year’s World Cup finals, and compete in the second half of the MLS season. Then he has one more season on his contract in America, taking him beyond his 36th birthday to autumn next year.

He is determined to complete his commitments in the USA, and is interested in buying an MLS franchise after his retirement from football, but success at the San Siro this year and Galliani will exert more pressure on a rethink.
