Our boy Seth Stammler of the NY RedBulls has been heavily involved in the fundraising and awareness side of things in Haiti for a while now with his SportingChanceFoundation. And in the aftermath of last month’s devastating earthquake, the SportingChanceFoundation and Under Armour have gotten down to bring you their ‘L’UNION FAIT LA FORCE’ collaboration, with all proceeds going to provide medical care, housing, transportation, clothing, education, food and clean water to those in desperate need in Haiti.

Dear Sporting Chance Foundation Supporters and Friends:
In the wake of the tragic earthquake last month in Port-au-Prince, Sporting Chance Foundation has ramped up its fundraising efforts to provide aid in the form of medical care, housing, transportation, clothing, education, food and clean water to those in need. The need that exists in Haiti today is greater than ever. Being the poorest country in the western hemisphere prior to the devastation that took place on January 12, 2010, it has been well documented how unprepared Haiti as a nation was to properly deal with such a large scale search and rescue, medical care implementation and rebuilding effort. We believe our efforts at Sporting Chance Foundation will make an immediate and long lasting impact on the lives of many Haitians.
A few days after the earthquake we learned that all of our colleagues and partners were alive and well. We were happy to learn that the community water well we completed in Port-au-Prince in October of 2009 survived the earthquake and is providing potable water to thousands of Haitians in the neighborhood of Cite Plus, free of charge. Due to transportation issues and communication hurdles we have been unable to get in contact with many of our scholarship recipients, however, we have gathered that a number of our students are homeless and living in the streets at this time. We hope through of fundraising efforts we can provide these students with housing in both the short and long term. Additionally, we learned that one of the community schools (Ecole Sainte Marie) we send students to and visited on our trip this past December collapsed in the earthquake.
Sporting Chance Foundation is committed more now to the people of Haiti than ever and look forward to raising money and putting it into action in the coming days, weeks, months and years.
Inspired to help the Sporting Chance Foundation Earthquake Relief Fund, the athletic apparel brand, Under Armour, has partnered with Sporting Chance Foundation to draw awareness to the devastation and help raise funds for Haiti. Under Armour has been generous enough to donate the first 400 ‘L’UNION FAIT LA FORCE’ t-shirts, allowing 100% of the proceeds to go directly to Sporting Chance Foundation’s relief efforts. ‘L’UNION FAIT LA FORCE’ is the National Motto of Haiti and translates to “Union Makes Strength” which we believe is very appropriate during these tough times for many Haitians. By creating a “unity” amongst its people, Haiti will rebound to be an even stronger country with more resolve than ever before.
