According to the reports in the  Daily Mail, Chelsea are ready to take advantage of Barcelona’s rumored bid for Arsenal’s Cesc Fabregas by launching a £30million raid for Dani Alves this summer. It is understood the Brazil full back, widely renowned as the finest right back in the world, has emerged as Carlo Ancelotti’s top transfer priority when the window re-opens at the end of the season and the Catalan club could be forced to sell.

According to reports in Spain the reigning European champions are close to agreeing a five-year deal worth £5.7m per year with the Arsenal captain but they may have to offload one or two big names to fund the mega money transaction. The Blues would have no problem meeting the Brazilian’s mooted £100,000 per week wage demands but could face competition from big spending Barclays Premier League rivals Manchester City should he become available.

Although Alves is currently sidelined for three weeks he has made 25 appearances so far this term, chipping in with three goals and eight assists. The player is thought to be happy with life at the Nou Camp and content to stay. But with his contract set to expire in 2012, the Spanish giants may decide to cash in on the 26-year-old while he still commands such an elaborate transfer fee.

Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti is keen to bolster his squad with a new right back this summer but a move for Alves could raise the possibility of Branislav Ivanovic joining Real Madrid, with the Serbian stand-in high on the Spanish club’s transfer wish list.
