when i played pick up games in Uganda in the dirt and brush, swarms of people from the village would come out and crowd around the pitch standing right up on the touchlines and endlines. The elders from the village would hand out sticks to the “scouts” to use if spectators got out of line and I saw a lot of more ambitious lads get wacked back into place by the older boys with sticks. plenting of thorns in my souls and stumbling on roots and divits from the rainy season. the commercial is a little cheesy but it is representative of what football looks like in the hinterlands of Africa. pretty sweet.

Pretty much sums up Africa. A bunch of poor tricksters in a desert filled with anklebreakers.
