Past, Present and Future

Everywhere we turn there is talk of the World Cup. Passive interest from the masses  along with fanaticism from the fanatics seems to be turning to much more excitement and chatter,  and at the top of the list of conversations and games that people seem to be talking about (at least Stateside), is the USA v England on June 12th. In many ways this is the perfect game. A common language, a shared history, a growing assortment of US players plying their trade in England (and one very famous Englishmen playing here in the US), and a monumental upset that took place 60 years ago.

On June 29, 1950 a heavily favored English team took on the USA in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, in a game that everyone thought the English would walk away with. So much so, that hardly anyone from the media was even present for the game. What ended up happening was one of the greatest upsets of all time, as the USA beat the English. There are few images from this infamous game, but the graphic in this shirt is without a doubt, as classic and timeless as you will ever find.

There is an equally remarkable story about the goal scorer, Joe Gaetjens, that I will leave to people much more capable of telling the story than I am.

Sixty years after the infamous “Game Of Our Lives,” the US and England are squaring off again in the 2010 World Cup. We’re releasing this graphic as a testament of US Soccer, our history in the sport and this monumental win that happened sixty years ago.

And as far as we’re concerned, it would be pretty rad to see a bar full of American fans wearing this shirt on June 12th when the US play England. Who knows, maybe the result repeats itself and we have to make another shirt commemorating June 12th, 2010. In the meantime, let’s all roll with this.

This is a limited edition graphic, so make sure and pick one up here.
