Tottenham striker Jermaine Defoe is set to miss at least six weeks after injuring ankle ligaments during England’s 3 – 1 win against Switzerland.
‘Five days after launching his country’s Euro 2012 campaign with a Wembley hat-trick against Bulgaria, Defoe learned that he is likely to miss Tottenham’s first three Champions League games and next month’s qualifier against Montenegro.
Despite carrying a groin injury through the opening weeks of the season, Defoe has been in sparkling form, scoring four goals in six games for club and country.’

It is a second blow in a week from the England camp for Spurs manager Harry Redknapp, and comes just after the transfer window shut, preventing him recruiting reinforcements.
