Portait of a Sport – Grant Wahl

Filed under: Conversations in Soccer, Portrait of a Sport

There are always a handful of people in any industry that seem to know just about everything and everyone. These people always seem to be in the right place at the right time, know the right people and have information and access that the vast majority of people just don’t. In the case of American soccer, Grant Wahl is that guy.

How media covers this sport (and everything else) is changing all the time. The ease in which anyone can set up and run your own blog (just like this one), report on news, analyze games, conduct interviews, etc means that just about anyone can consider themselves a part of the media. The depth of choices we now have in terms of media outlets is growing every day. Twitter and Facebook have become additional touching points in how we get our news and information. And everywhere you look there seems to be somebody new labeling themselves a journalist or member of the media. And as much as I am a fan of each of us being able to have our own voice and participate in the process of being in the media, there are still those very few who truly are journalists at the highest level.

Grant Wahl is one of those journalists.
