“I’m here. I just arrived, like, two months ago,” Drogba said. “I’m really happy here – I am. I am really happy here. So I have no reasons to leave. I don’t want to leave. I want to stay here as long as I can, win some trophies with my team, and make our fans very happy. It’s difficult at the moment but I know that there is hope, and I believe.”
There have been a lot of reports recently about financial instability at Shanghai Shenhua and that has raised doubts over the future of Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka, and led to speculation that they both could return to the Premier League.
The chairman, Zhu Jun, who owns a 28.5 per cent stake in Shanghai Shenhua, has reportedly threatened to stop funding the club, who are 10th in the Chinese Super League, unless he is given greater control. Word around the campfire is that he has pumped around 600 million yuan (£60m) into the club since 2007, while the other stakeholders – five state-owned enterprises – had paid “zero”.[image] [bbc sport] [telegraph]
