Juventus have confirmed they are on the brink of signing Nicolas Anelka on a short-term deal.
The Italian champions are set to bring in the 33-year-old French striker until the end of the season from Shanghai Shenhua.
And Juventus sporting director Beppe Marotta is convinced the move makes sense as they look to add to a squad that is still chasing trophies domestically and in Europe.
“This summer we made a significant investment to try and strengthen the group but clearly at this stage we are in an emergency situation,” Marotta told Sky Italia.
“As a result, it is logical to make this signing. It should be made official in the next few days. We have an agreement with Anelka for five months with the possibility to sign a further deal if agreeable to both parties.”
