OTL: U.S. Soccer Border Wars

There is a ton of content around this US v Mexico game today, and that is a very good thing. The amount of media attention on the game and the rivalry seems to be at an all time high, and I can only see interest around this rivalry growing. ESPN’s great show, Outside The Lines, has put together a series looking at the rivalry, and in particular players like Joe Corona and Richard Sanchez. Young players who are dual citizens of both the US and Mexico and who are afforded the opportunity to represent both countries. But these players ulatimately have to choose who to represent. The country that represents where their heritage lies, or the country that they grew up in. It’s a really interesting topic and one that I’m sure is going to become a hot button issue for the soccer communities of both countries for the foreseeable future.

Check out the series after the jump.
