“Take the ball, enjoy, and attack as much as possible. And when Gladbach have the ball, help each other. And win!” – Pep Guardiola
Bayern Munich is primed and ready to start the 2013/14 campaign.
The treble winners and defacto kings of European football begin the 2013/14 campaign today as they entertain Borussia Mönchengladbach at the Allianz Arena in the official opening match of the 2013/14 Bundesliga season.
Pep Guardiola makes his Bundesliga debut as Bayern coach. Players are ready. But before the kick off lets look back at their season last year. The 2012–13 FC Bayern Munich season was the 114th season in the club’s history and the 48th consecutive season in the top flight of German football, since promotion from the Regionalliga Süd in 1965.
Before the start of the season Bayern signed Xherdan Shaqiri, Dante, Claudio Pizarro, Mitchell Weiser, Tom Starke and Mario Mandžuki?. Bayern also added holding midfielder Javi Martínez after the first week of the Bundesliga season at the transfer deadline.
The club started the season with a nine-match winning streak and would end the season claiming The Treble, winning the Bundesliga, the UEFA Champions League and the DFB-Pokal. Just to throw another attaboy in there, they also won the DFL-Supercup. Bayern were the first German club to achieve The Treble and are the third European Club to complete The Treble in the last five seasons.
Mario Mandžuki (15), was the top scorer in league, and Thomas Müller (23) was the top goalscorer overall. Their average home attendance was an absolutely ridiculous 70,250 at the Allianz!
They finished the season… wait for it…. 46-5 and 3 in all competitions with 151 total goals scored and 33 goals against!
* This post is for our guy Saman by the way! He posted this after BM won Champions League *
