Champions League Final – TBT

Wembley – London
Pre kick-off at the Champions League final between Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund. This was the first time I had ever been to a Champions League match and it just so happened to be the final. It felt like the eyes of the world were on this game and on this stadium and I was lucky enough to be there in person.
I have always liked the small moments that the sport offers. The training sessions when no one is watching. Bus rides after the game when you just get to hang and bullshit with your team mates. Playing in the park as a kid long after you were supposed to already be home. I love all these small moments. But it was hard not to be overwhelmed by an event at this level. The pinnacle moment of the year in global soccer. Sir Alex Ferguson passed us walking in. Players from all over Europe were in attendance. Fans from across the world were there. The level of corporate sponsorships was overwhelming. The TV and broadcast trucks outside the stadium took up vast amounts of space. The whole thing was pretty spectacular. You could feel the magnitude of the moment in the air.
It was a reminder of how massive the sport is but also a reminder to dream big. This was just about the biggest stage in the soccer world and I was a participant in it (in some manner). I was there representing this site and who we are. Who would have ever thought that would be the case when we started TOW a few years ago. But we believed we belonged. And we got after it to prove that.
The game represented that dreaming big should be done at all times. Hard work is mandatory, but dream big and go after it. It’s out there for someone to get. Why not go get it.
