Conversations In Soccer : Dave Kaval on the Academy System

San Jose Earthquakes Club President Dave Kaval took some time out of his busy schedule to sit down with the guys from The Original Winger and have an in-depth conversation about the new soccer specific AVAYA Stadium, the San Jose Earthquakes and their Academy system as well as the future of MLS and American Soccer.


In part III of our interview, President Kaval talks about the Academy system in depth, what compelled the Earthquakes to make such an investment and some of the things that he sees as key to the growth of the game.

Dave Kaval, a native of Cleveland, Ohio, earned a Bachelor’s degree and an M.B.A. from Stanford University, was hired as the President of the San Jose Earthquakes in October of 2010.

He oversees the business and technical sides of the franchise.

Kaval led the Quakes efforts to design, develop, and privately finance the new 18,000 seat, $100m soccer specific stadium that opened for the 2015 MLS season.
