Abby Wambach Thoughts on Hope Solo

I think the suspension was a lifetime achievement award…. in terms of her longevity on the team and how many mistakes she’s made.Abby Wambach

Abby Wambach drops by Dan Patricks show and gets on his podcast to talk many things including her book, U.S. soccer, Hope Solo, fashion and more.

* Obviously, what is going to get the most run in the soccer world and on soccer twitter, is her takedown of Hope Solo if you want to call it that, but I have to feel that most people will think that what she is saying its just some very real shxt.

As you know, I’m a huge Abby guy and have always loved just how honest she is and just how much she shares her thoughts, even though she obviously has battled some real demons in her life. I enjoy listening to her more and more since she’s retired because she definitely doesn’t hold anything back.

Interesting note (to me at least) was what she said at the end and it had nothing to do with Hope, but when she was saying, “Having been in those meetings….”

I’ve always wondered, even though I’ve assumed it, about how much imput teams, organizations, clubs, or whomever let their star players and elder statesmen give. She said it very passingly which tells me that she has been involved a little more than we know.

I like that. I think that is how it should be. Tells me that organizations whether it be a team or a federation or a league isn’t just out here making unilateral decisions and hammering their ideas down with an iron first.

If you want to check out the full interview and not just the Hope clip, here it is.

As I’ve said a billion times here, one of the things I always wanted to do with Abby was crack back a beer or drink a nice aged bourbon with…. will obviously not happen now, but the new question is can we go to a gc and swing those bats!

Always my captain.
