There is a lot of soccer going on in the United States right now. There are MLS games. There are MLS v European games. There are Euro v Euro games. So much going on across this great country, and we have been pretty lucky to have been at a number of these games over the past week. Here’s a look back at our week that was.
Things kicked off in Seattle. Was this the first of the international games going on this summer in the States? If not the first, definitely one of them. In addition to the game, and Clint Dempsey playing against his old team, Deuce was unveiled as the FIFA cover athlete for North America.
The day before the game EA SPORTS helped a Fan Fest for a select group of lucky fans who got to test out the Beta version of FIFA 15, meet some players from Tottenham and Seattle, battle said players in FIFA 15 and generally enjoy a once in a lifetime experience.
Brad Evans and Ledley King battled each other in FIFA 15.
Dunny was out in Kansas City for the Sporting KC v Manchester City match. Besides just calling the game, he stopped by Oklahoma Joe’s and got a Kansas City special – The Z Man.
While Dunny was out in KC dealing with Manchester City, their crosstown rivals were in LA, so we headed out to the Rose Bowl with a couple homies to take in the LA Galaxy v Manchester United match. We all know the result was terrible for the Galaxy. But the atmosphere…
There are some ridiculous venues across this country. But a packed Rose Bowl on a warm summer night, it doesn’t get much better than this. LA stand up!
Dunny heads home to Salt Lake and has the kids in the booth. Take your kids to work night was a huge success. These dudes got next…
Let’s not forget that stop off in Chicago… #TeamNoBackFat took the night off here.
Flying in to San Francisco for the Real Madrid v Inter Milan game in Berkeley. We talk a lot about the journey we have taken. The road and path that we have chosen. This reminded me of that. It’s cliche, but the journey is the best part. We’ll all get where we are going eventually, but the road to get there is what makes it all worth it.
Next thing you know, Dunny and I are at the same game in Berkely. Real Madrid v Inter Milan. Not a bad place to end up. Here’s his view.
Here was mine.
Sometimes the word sellout is a very good thing. Shouts to the good folks of the Bay area for coming through and representing.
I remember a conversation I had with a girl who had just went all in on a hair cut, went super short and changed her whole steeze. She said she had just gone through a bad breakup, and for lack of a better word, she needed a re-brand. She needed a change. She had to shake the bad vibes and memories from the situation she just got out of. I feel like this is what Pepe was thinking with shaving the dome clean. He needed to shake the World Cup. Start fresh. I’m not mad at that.
The last week was a solid 168 hours. We have a legit 168 ahead of us with MLS Cup and some festivities on the horizon. Hopefully we’ll be seeing a lot of you in Portland. And if you are in Portland, keep August 6th, post All Star Game, free. We got something special for you all. Just saying…
