Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela was a South African anti-apartheid revolutionary and politician who served as President of South Africa from 1994 to 1999. He was the first black South African to hold the office, and the first elected in a fully representative, multiracial election.
His government focused on dismantling the legacy of apartheid through tackling institutionalised racism, poverty and inequality, and fostering racial reconciliation. Politically an African nationalist and democratic socialist, he served as the President of the African National Congress (ANC) from 1991 to 1997. Internationally, Mandela was the Secretary General of the Non-Aligned Movement from 1998 to 1999.
Mandela passed on December 5, 2013 at the age of 95, at home and surrounded by his family. His death was announced by President Jacob Zuma.

~~ Oh. Hot. Dayum. Pretty sure us in the BPxTOW clubhouse are going to have to find a way to get our hands on this… And if you out there in the TOW realm are thinking about picking something up for us boys, we’d gladly share.
One thing Ron Burgundy takes as seriously as news is scotch, so it should come as no surprise that San Diego’s top newsman has a scotch of his own, and it’s kind of a big deal.Ron Burgundy Scotchy Scotch Scotch ($TBA) is a blend of whiskies from Speyside, Highlands and Islay worthy of the Burgundy catchphrase “Great Odin’s Raven.” It sounds like a must have bottle, especially if you have many leather-bound books and your apartment smells of rich mahogany. Don’t act like you’re not impressed.

~~ Been an incredible year for Mike Magee… Can’t argue with the stats and the fact that he won this award without his team making the playoffs is even more impressive.
Major League Soccer today announced that Chicago Fire forward Mike Magee was voted the Volkswagen MLS Most Valuable Player for the 2013 season.
Today at approximately 4:30 p.m. ET, Magee will receive the award and be presented to media in the Kansas City area covering MLS Cup 2013.
Magee, 29, came to the Fire in a trade on May 25 from the LA Galaxy and made an immediate impact with the club. In 22 games with Chicago, Magee scored 15 goals and tallied four assists. Prior to joining the Fire, Magee scored six goals with the Galaxy, bringing his season total to 21 goals – the second most in MLS this season. Prior to this year, the most goals Magee had scored in a single season was seven with the MetroStars back in 2003.
The Chicago native was voted MLS Player of the Month twice and MLS Player of the Week once during the 2013 season. He was honored as the Fire’s 2013 MVP. Since entering MLS in 2003, Magee has scored a total of 57 goals in league play.

~~ Interesting to see a guy like Platini tie his boat to something like this publicly…. Don’t get me wrong, it’s an interesting idea… Wonder who those countries are that are against it that he was referring to.
According to Spanish sports daily newspaper AS, the 58-year-old Frenchman said: “I would change the system of warnings. I would make it like rugby, punishing the offender with 10 or 15 minutes out of the game.
“That way, the benefit goes to the team he is playing against, in the same match, instead of a sanction by cards which is carried out against a third team, the next on the calendar.
“It is an idea. Now it needs to mature and see if it really is good for the game. It is a proposal to be explored.”
Platini, a former World Player of the Year, also offered his thoughts on red cards shown to goalkeepers who have conceded a penaty.
He said: “It seems excessive. The penalty is itself already a punishment enough.
“I think it’s something that everyone in FIFA and UEFA agree on, but one or two of the countries that make up the International Board are unwilling to change.”

We’ve always known that Spider-Man’s most important battle has been within himself: the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man. But in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Peter Parker finds that a greater conflict lies ahead.
It’s great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there’s no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: OsCorp.
Cast: Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx

* Yea, from there…
LUIS SUAREZ scored 4 goals today…. realistically he could’ve walked off the pitch and put on a bubble after his first one, because it is probably the best goal you will see all season. This guy is incredible.
