city rising

I’m a Chelsea supporter and a California guy, this picture is too awesome not to post…

As you know Manchester City are on tour in America right now, and these guys are doing the damn thing. I have been a longtime supporter of their social networking, and posted a lot of stuff on TOW, because I believe that they are by far the best organizational content producers in all of sports. Their twitter, facebook and youtube game is setting the bar really REALLY high for everyone else out there and this visit to the US is no different. After the jump, we dropped a few of the videos that have been produced and put up online.

One of the videos is the squad arriving at the airport in Manchester getting ready to take off, one is of the side arriving at JFK and one is of their visit to Staten Island to donate equipment to the local soccer club after Hurricane Sandy destroyed their community..

Manchester City @MCFC on twitter : Man City on Facebook : MCFC Official on YouTube … believe me, the youtube subscription is worth it for the Micah Richards videos alone, but all of their social stuff is worth subscribing to!

Check out some videos after the jump….

MLS Legends :: Carlos ‘El Pibe’ Valderrama

Filed under: MLS News, Highlights, Videos, and Scores | Major League Soccer Highlights, Soccer News, Videos

Valderrama

~~ I can distinctly remember the first time I saw Pibe jogging around the field in a Tampa Bay Mutiny jersey and thinking to myself, this dude just sees the game in slow motion.  His touches, movements off the ball, the angles he was taking, the vision, the weight of his passes, both feet…. Watching him for years on the television was one thing, but seeing him do it live was just absolutely ridiculous.

Then I started playing against him and instead of trying to get the ball of him (which was completely useless), I just wanted to force the ball back where it came from.  That really didn’t work as well to be honest….

Right around 2000, I got to know Pibe on a personal level while filming an ‘MLS – ESPN Takeover’ commercial and through my US U-23 centerback partner Chad McCarty (who played in Tampa) and dude was just a damn good guy, despite faking that he didn’t understand or speak English (which he did, but used only when he wanted to).

Best memory of Pibe was playing against him when he was with the Miami Fusion and hearing him yell at a teammate while having the ball at his feet :: ‘See, play the ball and move!!! Simple, two touches!! See!’  I won’t name the guy he was yelling at, but his facial expression of ‘Damn, Pibe’s calling me out in front of the other team now…’ was priceless.  We went on to lose that game.  By a lot.

Manuel Pellegrini Confirms Malaga Exit – Manchester City Up Next?

Filed under: EPL News, Highlights, Videos, and Scores | English Premier League Highlights, La Liga News, Highlights, Videos, and Scores | Spanish La Liga, Manchester City, Soccer News

Manuel Pellegrini

~~ There’s no doubting Maneul Pellegrini’s coaching pedigree, having coached teams like River Plate, Villareal and Real Madrid… The big question is how will he adapt to the style of play and the personalities already set within the Manchester City squad if he does make the move to the Etihad.

via Guardian

Manuel Pellegrini has cleared the way for a move to Manchester City by announcing he is to leave Málaga at the end of the Spanish league season.

The Chilean coach has been lined up to replace Roberto Mancini by City’s chief executive, Ferran Soriano, and sporting director Txiki Begiristain, with his appointment due to be ratified early next month. Málaga have two league fixtures to play, at home to Deportivo La Coruña on Sunday and away at Barcelona, who have also been linked with Pellegrini, on 1 June. At a function to mark his successful tenure as Málaga coach the 59-year-old confirmed they will be his last with the club.

“Professionally, I am living my last hours in Málaga,” said Pellegrini. “On Sunday I will manage my last game as Málaga coach at La Rosaleda. It will be a very emotional occasion and we hope to leave with the club qualified for Europe, with the mission completed and with the misfortune that the project changed. The agreement with the club has been gratifying and satisfactory. Everyone has the right to continue on their own path. I am not leaving because of financial ambition but because of a sporting project that will allow me to feel fulfilled.”
