Police not happy with Cahill’s celebration

[Sorry, rough video]

British Constable Will Hope has publicly criticized Everton and Australian midfielder Tim Cahill for his goal celebration against Portsmouth at the weekend.  The former Millwall players crossing of his wrists were meant to be a signal of support for his brother Chris, who is serving a 6 year jail sentence for an assault that left a man almost blind.

$7,600 fine for knocking Juande Ramos out cold

The “fan” who threw a bottle at then Sevilla head coach Juande Ramos has been found guilty of assault and was ordered to pay $7,066 in fines and only $544 to Ramos himself. Sevilla had just taken a 1-nil lead against Real Betis in last season Copa del Rey (which they went on to win) when the bottle was thrown and the match was abandoned shortly afterwards.

The perp hasn’t been named, but he has also been banned from all sporting matches for two whole years! Well done Spain, well done.

The wheels on the bus..

I know this has nothing to do with soccer, BUT I have major issues with bus drivers. Not only in my own youthful experiences riding the bus to and from school for all of two weeks, but ending with my sister being dragged by a school bus after the driver closed the door on her backpack and dragged her down the street.

This video just reinforces my hatredislike for them even more and it looks like charges will be filed against all four participants.

Gazza in trouble once again

Filed under: Arrests, Newcastle, Paul Gascoigne

You’d hope that if you’d seemingly had it all, you’d be happy.  The things like fame, fortune, women, it’d be a perfect life that you could ride off into the sunset with.  But when you have a disease that only you can fight and are constantly under public scrutiny, life isn’t always as easy as it seems.  Last night/this morning Northumbria police were summoned to Newcastle’s Malmaison hotel at 4:45am after an incident with a guest, widely believed to be Paul Gascoigne.  After being asked to leave the hotel and checking into the Hilton around the corner, police again were dispatched and this time detained the 40 year old Gazza under the Mental Health.  Reading between the lines, he was hammered again and causing major disturbances.  Here’s hoping Gazza can somehow find a way to get himself healthy.

Norwegian John Carew placed himself in the hat trick column as Aston Villa thumped Newcastle 4-1 at Villa Park this afternoon. Even the inclusion of Joey Barton back in the midfield couldn’t save Kevin Keegan’s men as they continue their horrible form.

Even if he’s traveling by charter plane everyday to train with the squad up at Newcastle before having to return to his safe house, Kevin Keegan has told Joey Barton he must wait.  On trial for assault in Liverpool, Barton was released on bail but faces trial at the end of March.  Keegan has put his faith in Barton publicly, hoping for a positive outcome to the situation.
