Former Chelsea Head Coach Avram Grant has opened up about his time at Stamford Bridge, the player he almost signed, the player he didn’t want and the players who acted like “Children”.
A statement read: “Chelsea Football Club can confirm that Avram Grant has had his contract as manager terminated. This follows meetings over the last two days.
“Everybody at Chelsea would like to thank Avram for his contribution since taking over as manager last September.
“We will now be concentrating all our efforts on identifying a new manager for Chelsea and there will be no further comment until that appointment is made.”
No word yet whether Ten Cate will go with him, but you’d think he has to go with all that’s gone on.
Not too many people (including the announcers) noticed this when it happened during Chelsea’s Semi-Final Champions League win the other night, but Beans and I sure did.
I love the look on Avram Grant’s face when he knows roughly 75% of the cameras in Stamford Bridge are on him the exact moment. He looked like he didn’t know whether to be really pissed off, exaggerate the fall just a bit more, grab his face and roll on the ground or just put his hands behind his head, kick his feet up and pimp relax.
At least the referee didn’t try to make anything more of it and ruin a great game.
After guiding Chelsea to the Champions League Final after their victory over Liverpool, boss Avram Grant did exactly what he said he would do in his post match press conference, head to Auschwitz for the 10,000 person strong March of the Living celebrating its 65 year history.
While the walk was only 3 kilometers, it was more for Grant as he delivered an address to the crowd concerning his life and the luxuries afforded to him by his father’s experiences and survival through the Holocaust.
They might be a little different than you and I, but for someone to send a package to Chelsea’s Cobham training ground with a mysterious powder and anti-semitic death threats aimed at both Avram Grant and his wife Tzofit Grant, it’s disgusting and completely out of order. While the powder turned out to be harmless, police are still investigating where the powder came from and you’ve gotta hope they catch whoever was a part of this and prosecute them to the full extent of the law. Come on people, it’s just a game!
While Rafa is having major problems over at Liverpool, Avram Grant is confident enough in his squad that for tonight’s Champions League Clash against Olympiacos in Greece, he might be leaving out big names like Terry, Anelka and Lampard. With Sunday’s Carling Cup Final against Tottenham Hotspur set for Wembley, it seems the big names will be rested unless something goes horribly wrong in Athens.
