Landon Donovan accepts the award for Best Upset on behalf of the US Soccer team onstage during the 2009 ESPY Awards held at Nokia Theatre LA Live on July 15, 2009 in Los Angeles, California. The 17th annual ESPYs will air on Sunday, July 19 at 9PM ET on ESPN.

Diego Forlan has won the coveted Pichichi Trophy for the second time in his career (the first back with Villareal during the ‘04 / 05 season) after dropping 32 goals in the Primera Division for Atletico Madrid.
The goal against FC Porto was nice, but the goal at the Emirates was a bust as well. His personality is definitely starting to come through.
Ryan Giggs was named the PFA Player Of The Year for the very first time in career (having already picked up the PFA’s Young Player of the Year Award twice), while Aston Villa’s Ashley Young was voted the PFA Young Player of the Year by their Professional peers.
The success Manchester United has had as a team this season is trickling down into the award nominations as a total of five players, along with Cristiano Ronaldo who could possibly win his third consecutive, find themselves nominated for the 2009 PFA Player of the Year.
Following up teammate Fredy Montero’s 2 goal / 1 assist Week 1 MLS Player of the Week honor, Seattle Sounders FC Captain and keeper Kasey Keller has been given the honor for Week 2 following his second consecutive shutout victory.
