Belarus Ref Schmammered
Filed under: Belarus, Drunk History, RefsUPDATE - The Belarus FA have officially banned Shmolik for LIFE. His alcohol level exceeded the limit allowed to drive a car by NINE TIMES.
Belarus Referee Sergei Shmolik had to be helped off the field during a league match, at first complaining of back pain.
Shmolik was later taken to the hospital after he could barely make it off the field, where blood tests proved he was highly intoxicated.
The crowd at Vitebsk stadium, where the local team was hosting Naftan, seemed to enjoy the fact that Shmolik couldn’t even get out of the center circle as the game was going on around him.
Shmolik’s actions will be handled by the Belarus Football Federation disciplinary committee this week.
I’ve wondered a few times myself if the referees were drunk when I played…
