Soccer in a Football World: The Story of America’s Forgotten Game” by David Wangerin is available August 4th. I just read a very interesting review of this book here .

Bloody Confused! A Clueless American Sportswriter Seeks Solace in English Soccer“, by Chuck Culpepper, is available August 5th. I love this description: “After covering the American sports scene for fifteen years, Chuck Culpepper suffered from a profound case of Common Sportswriter Malaise. He was fed up with self-righteous proclamations, steroid scandals, and the deluge of in-your-face PR that saturated the NFL, the NBA, and MLB. Then in 2006, he moved to London and discovered a new and baffling world—the renowned Premiership soccer league. Culpepper pledged his loyalty to Portsmouth, a gutsy, small-market team at the bottom of the standings. As he puts it, “It was like childhood, with beer.”” Yeah, I love that!

The Big Lebowski

I was hanging out at the parents house in Upland when I came across this book, I’m a Lebowski, You’re a Lebowski.

A very, very good read and as always, Big Rog is still representing The Big Lebowski.

Sneaker Wars

I started reading this book, “Sneaker Wars”, last night and I haven’t been able to put it down. Barbara Smit takes an in depth look at the feud and rivalry between adidas and PUMA and how they changed the business of sport forever. For those that don’t know, adidas and PUMA were founded by feuding brothers from a small German town. Imagine that, two of the world’s biggest sporting companies started by brothers because they couldn’t get along. This book goes in to depth about what caused their feud, how the businesses grew and some incredibly shady dealings that took place to build these brands and the business of sports. A lot of the book focuses on soccer and how adidas and PUMA helped to change the sport both on and off the field. Do yourself a favor and read this book!
