Allow Me To Introduce…

the-fam

Our Bumpy Pitch / The Original Winger family is always growing, and for us, that is what it’s all about. Helping to build and spread the lifestyle of soccer though as many different channels and with as many different points of view as possible. At the end of the day building the strongest culture that surrounds soccer on and off the filed is what we are all about. With that in mind, I  want to introduce you to a couple of dudes, who have been mentioned on here before, that are going to start posting on The Original Winger. We go way back with these cats, and they are going to bring a whole nother perspective to the site and to the culture. They each have their own insights and experiences that they bring, and you’ll get to see a little bit more of that here. Get to know them a little more after the jump.

Anthony LaPaglia Gets Down With Bumpy Pitch

Filed under: Anthony LaPaglia, Bumpy Pitch

Anthony LaPaglia

We’ve been working on a lot of things recently at Bumpy Pitch and up to this point, we haven’t been able to talk too much about any of it. What we have found out is that there are a lot of elements required to build something special, and sometimes that takes longer than you would expect.

But today we’re finally able to announce that our boy Anthony LaPaglia is not only an official partner now, but part of the Bumpy Pitch crew.

Our collective vision on making a positive impact on the game and the lifestyle of the sport has led to not only a great friendship, but the perfect environment to do something special.

There’s a lot more on the horizon that’s about to drop and ton of other things that are on the way, so as soon as we can announce it, you’ll be the first to know.

Back to the grind….

Fashion v Sport

Filed under: Bumpy Pitch, Fashion, Lifestyle

fashion-v-sport

London’s Victoria and Albert Museum is running an exhibition that opens this week that examines the relationship between fashion and sport. Sport and fashion are becoming more intertwined as they both continue to influence the design and aesthetic of one another. This is actually something that we talk about all the time as we continue to develop Bumpy Pitch and explore/define the relationship between soccer, culture, fashion and lifestyle. Great to see that a museum as respected as the Victoria and Albert Museum are exploring this as well. If you are in London you can check out the exhibit which will run through January 4th.

Heading Back to Downtown

Filed under: Bumpy Pitch, Family, Los Angeles, X Games

I gotta head back downtown to check up once again on the Bumpy Pitch samples. There is one more process that the shirts have to go through, and I need to check up on them before they can take their final step in the process.  WithThe X Games in town, and the Staples Center as one of the venues, downtown is popping off right now with events and activity. The Standard Hotel (the picture above is The Standard’s rooftop pool) is at at the center of all of this attention. The hotel has been booked exclusively for athletes and celebrities so you know good times are over flowing there. I have some friends staying at the hotel as they are a part of the festivities, so a quick lunch break at the hotel before heading off to our manufacturer is definitely in order. I’ll post some pictures later. Back in a bit…

Justice x Santogold Mashup

justice-santogold

Update: We got a good amount of responses from folks submitting their answer for what LES from Santogold’s LES Artistes stands for. Thanks to all those who emailed me. Because it’s Thursday and I’m feeling particularly giving today, I’ve decided to give Bumpy Pitch shirts to the first few people that emailed me with the right answers. Winners have been notified and this little contest is officially closed. But I’m feeling like we should do a new one soon. Thanks for playing!

Justice changed the music scene when they dropped D.A.N.C.E. Since then artists have been copping their styles sonically and visually. Then Santogold comes along and she has the same effect. A fresh sound and outlook has had hipsters bumping her tunes for a minute. It was only a matter of time until somebody put the two of them together and did a mashup that has way too many initials. Enter L.E.S.D.A.N.C.E. (which is the second most annoying thing I have typed…the first is W.A.L.E.D.A.N.C.E). Anyway, this dude Immuzikation did the dirty and mashed them up and the result is a winner. To check the outcome, click here. For more on Immuzikation head here.

The video for D.A.N.C.E. was and still is fire

FREE T-SHIRT…first person to email me with what LES stands for from Santogolds LES Artistes wins a free Bumpy Pitch t-shirt. Hit me with your answer at ben@theoriginalwinger.com
