Letter From Gov. Schwarzenegger, Prank or Coincidence? You be the judge

Filed under: Cali, Humor, Politics, WTF

From LA Times:

It reads like an innocuous letter from Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, explaining why he vetoed a wonky piece of legislation that would have made changes to “infrastructure financing districts.”

But hidden in Schwarzenegger’s text is another message: an obscene phrase apparently directed at the bill’s author, Assemblyman Tom Ammiano (D-San Francisco), who ridiculed the governor earlier this month. The phrase, “F— You,”  is spelled out by the first letter of seven consecutive lines along the left margin. (more…)

Museum Day 2009 by Smithsonian & Museum Free-for-All

Special free-admission days at museums around the country have become a popular and apparently successful marketing tool, but some institutions are becoming more particular about which events they participate in.

On the eve of a nationwide free Museum Day Saturday sponsored by Smithsonian Magazine — which many local museums are not participating in — and the “Museums Free-for-All” Oct. 3 and 4 at various Los Angeles and Orange county institutions, museum leaders and others are aiming for the most recognition of their “brand” when it comes to free admission. California’s Flat Screen TV Problem… Uh-oh

The state would be the first in the nation to adopt energy-efficiency standards, but some in the electronics industry say the rules would result in higher prices and job cuts.

Concerned that the growing popularity of big-screen televisions could make it harder for California to keep pace with electricity demand, state energy regulators are poised to crack down on energy-guzzling sets despite opposition from a powerful electronics trade group.

Back from Break

werri-beachjpg.jpeg

Well, I have been on break for the past few weeks and today was my first day back. It was important for me to have a break. I have been training for the last 10 months and my body felt tired. I have been hanging at the beach, chilling by the pool, and going to some movies with my friends. Transformers was awesome and the Hangover was hilarious! During the month of July I am going to be playing with some college guys and my team comes back from break in a week or so. My team is going to Surf Cup in August, so we will be preparing for that.

AND I think I’m going back to Enschede in August.

The Legend Of Steve Caballero

Steve Caballero

Growing up in Upland and being in what many would consider the heart of the skateboarding phenomenon back in the 80’s, the Bones Brigade crew (guys like Steve Caballero, Lance Mountain, Mike McGill and Tony Hawk in my favorite movie, 1987’s The Search For Animal Chin) were only an arms reach away with the Upland Pipeline Skatepark down on Arrow Highway and Baldy Pipe within riding / hiking distance from my house.

My personal board of choice was always the latest Steve Cabellero (the one above being my favorite which I rode to it’s destruction and mowed many a neighbors lawn to earn enough money to replace that exact deck multiple times) and today I came across this really cool video of the legend himself looking back, the days of inventing the “Caballerial” and how it turned into the “Half - Cab”.

Check the Video after the Jump…..
