DOUBLE UPDATE -  Unfortunately it looks like things aren’t not going to end as well as they started for Villanueva as it’s being reported that he very well could be on his way out of Ewod Park following Paul Ince’s sacking.

“They (Blackburn) have already confirmed to us that they will not use the option to buy him,” Audax general manager Claudio Tessa told Cooperativa.“Now we are going to use a part of the agreement that allows us to transfer Carlos to another club if they agree.  The transfer market is open, but there is little time so it will not be easy.”

UPDATE - Not a bad way to make your debut with a Premiership side, scoring a goal and getting an assist in just 45 minutes after being out just over three weeks with Chicken Pox.

Villanueva’s form was on for everyone to see as Blackburn cruised past League Two side Grimsby 4 - 1 in their Carling Cup opener.
