Frank de Bleeckere

Belgian referee Frank de Bleeckere, the man in the middle of last weeks Champions League “Battle of Britain” between Manchester United and Celtic has come out publicly and admitted that he and his assistants got it wrong when watching the replay afterwards, namely the two goals scored by United’s Dimitar Berbatov.

Assistant Alex Verstraeten said: “I admit to the mistakes, but we also ask for understanding. Offside decisions are the hardest to judge. We are only human flesh and blood.  This is the first time that we have made a mistake in 52 international matches.”

“It is our bad luck that the mistakes came at goals. It is no consolation that Manchester United would have won without these decisions. Some players argue their case in front of us, but no Celtic player protested.”

It now looks like Celtic boss Gordon Strachan will sign the US keeper IF his application for an Italian passport come through.

3 In A Row For Glasgow Celtic

Glasgow Celtic

Jan Vennegoor scored in the 72nd minute against Dundee at Parkhead to lead Glasgow Celtic to their 3rd Clydesdale Bank Premier League Title in a row as Glasgow Rangers lost 2-nil at Aberdeen.

With Rangers losing their final two matches away on the season (on top of losing the Uefa Cup Final to Zenit the previous week), Celtic was able to come raring back to win the title under Gordon Strachan after being written off just three weeks ago.

The Title will taste even better after being dedicated to the memory of Assistant Coach Tommy Burns, who had passed away from Skin Cancer on the 16th of May.
