Copper River CC Tournament - Californina Odyssey

Golf Tournament

I’ve got to give it to Chad and Cara for putting together an amazing event today up at the Copper Canyon Country Club.

Golf Tournament2

The California Odyssey was able to raise a lot of money through an auction that saw a signed Chelsea ball, an Argentina jersey and a real cattle drive (and a lot more) go for big bucks that hopefully will one day help the club buy land to build their own academy fields.

Keep an eye out for a recap and interviews on Fox Soccer Channel as Max, Christian, Rogondino and myself had fun in front of the camera as well as in depth interviews with Chad and members of the upper tier of the Odyssey as they continue their involvement with the Development Academy going forward.

Good to see McCarty, a former United States youth player, college player (University of Washington), Under-20, Under-23, Full Team and MLS veteran use everything he experienced as a player give back to the youth and city that raised him.

18 Holes California Odyssey Style

Fresno

A while back we told you about our meeting with Cara regarding the upcoming California Odyssey Golf Tournament.

Well tomorrow morning is game day as Max Bretos, Christian Miles, Mark Rogondino and myself made our way north to hit up the VIP party tonight at The Elbow Room and tomorrow morning’s 18 is kicking off at 8am.

It’ll be great to hang out with my boy Chad McCarty (whom I was roommates with since we were on the U-20 team back in 1997) who’s now the Technical Director for the Odyssey.

Keep an eye out on FSC for the interviews and wrap up..

California Odyssey

California Odyssey

Beans and I had the chance to catch up with Cara (from the youth soccer club California Odyssey) for lunch over in West Hollywood on Tuesday.

We’ll have more to tell, but between Cara and former MLS/2000 Olympic Team Co-Captain Chad McCarty, the California Odyssey looks to be in great hands.

AND throw in the fact they’re one of the few clubs invited to play in U.S. Soccer’s National Development Academy, things seem to be heading in the right direction for a very fortunate group of youth players.

Oh, and stay tuned for more information about the Celebrity Golf Tournament Fund Raiser they’ve put together for June 23rd. When you can get a guy like Chuck Liddell to show up, you’re doing something right.

I’ll be heading up there with a couple of the boys from FSC (Bretos, Miles, Rogandino) and of course we’ll have all the pictures of the event.
