Show Your Ticket And You’re In

2008 Champions League Final

Russian officials have dropped their regular Visa Requirements for the 2008 Champions League Finals that is set for Wednesday, May 21st at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow.

While tens of thousands of fans are expected to attend as both sets of clubs were allocated 21,000 each, Alexei Sorokin (the Head Russian Official in charge of the event) has announced that only a valid ticket will be required for presentation instead of the normal Visa process, one that was a point of contention since the relationship between England and Russia has been strained since the assassination/murder of Moscow Critic Alexander Litvinenko.

Pat Lampard Laid to Rest

Frank Lampard

Family, friends and teammates gathered today for the funeral of Frank Lampard’s mother, Pat in Barking, England.

The 58 year old had passed after a bout with pneumonia last week and son Frank played a crucial role in Chelsea’s Champions League Semi-Final victory over Liverpool in which he scored a penalty, playing the entire match and dedicating both the goal and the match to his beloved mother.

Timber!!!!!

Filed under: Avram Grant, Champions League, Steven Gerrard

Not too many people (including the announcers) noticed this when it happened during Chelsea’s Semi-Final Champions League win the other night, but Beans and I sure did.

I love the look on Avram Grant’s face when he knows roughly 75% of the cameras in Stamford Bridge are on him the exact moment.  He looked like he didn’t know whether to be really pissed off, exaggerate the fall just a bit more, grab his face and roll on the ground or just put his hands behind his head, kick his feet up and pimp relax.

At least the referee didn’t try to make anything more of it and ruin a great game.

Nike Air Max Premium SP “Euro Champs” Edition

Nike Air Max

Nike just released these super fly Air Max’s. Dubbed the Sp Euro Champ model, and done in Manchester United colors, I can’t help but think the “Euro Champs” Air Max’s are in honor of Man United on their way to winning the Champions League this year. I’m probably reaching here, but that is the inspiration I would like to believe was used for these, so I’m sticking to it. If you have any interest in scooping these up, head to Over Kill.

Roma will be without it’s best player at Old Trafford as Serie A’s Roma takes on Premiership leaders Manchester United Wednesday in the Champions League return leg.  The Quarter Final clash was already going to be difficult for a Roma squad that lost at home 2-nil to United last week.

Facing Off 3 Times in 10 Days

Steven Gerrard and Cesc Fabregas

It’s a big day tomorrow with the first Tuesday leg of the Champions League going to Man U 2-nil at Roma and Barcelona 1-nil at Shalke.  But tomorrow..

Well let’s just say that there should be no way in hell that Fenerbache beats Chelsea, even in Istanbul.  As for the Liverpool heading down to Emirates Stadium to face the youngsters of Arsenal, that’s just a toss up.

Remember, Arsenal is coming off  a 3-2 win over Bolton which saw them come back from a 0-2 deficit while only having 10 men.  Yes, it will hurt not having Sagna to help contain Fernando Torres (perhaps the 2nd most dangerous man in the Premiership behind Cristiano Ronaldo), but will be recalling Emmanuel Adebayor to the starting 11.

Liverpool has not won at Arsenal since 2000 and you know that it’s playing in the back of their minds, but a solid display during their 1-nil Merseyside derby against Everton will give them confidence in the build up.

Liverpool will be fielding the only two English players (Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher) to feature in the starting 11’s and this will be the first of 3 match ups in the next 10 days.
