Chelsea and NY Yankees Unveil Soccer Map Of Yankee Stadium

Fresh off winning the Champions League this past weekend, Chelsea can now look ahead to their summer tour of the United States. As part of this tour, they will be playing Paris St. Germain in the World Football Challenge at Yankees Stadium in New York. Today, the NY Yankees and Chelsea unveiled this map of what the stadium will look like when setup to host the European champions. The match takes place Sunday July 22nd at 7pm and tickets can be purchased here.

Didier Drogba thanks th fans for their support over the past 8 years and he spoke exclusive to Chelsea TV about his decision to leave Chelsea this summer.

Earlier today, Didier Drogba announced that he was not returning to Chelsea FC after his contract expires in June.

Didier Drogba Confirms He’s Leaving Cheslea When His Contract Expires In June

Chelsea Football Club can confirm Didier Drogba will be leaving the club when his contract expires at the end of June.

Didier has spent eight years at Chelsea, and everyone at the club would like to thank him for his service and wish him luck and continued success for the future.

Chelsea Chief Executive Ron Gourlay said: ‘Didier is undoubtedly a Chelsea legend and will always be part of the Chelsea family. He is certainly leaving on a high after Saturday night but he feels the time is right for a new challenge.

‘Of course Didier has contributed so much to all of Chelsea’s recent successes. He has been a consummate professional during his entire time here and as one of the natural leaders in our squad he has been an inspiration to a lot of our younger players.

‘We have known for some time that this outcome was likely but Didier and the club only made a final decision on that in the last couple of days, because for obvious reasons neither Didier nor the club wanted to distract focus away from the Champions League Final.’

‘The talks were amicable all the way through and we wish him all the best for the future. He is welcome back to Stamford Bridge at any time – either as a player or as a guest of ours.’

Didier leaves Chelsea having scored 157 goals in 341 appearances. He is the club’s fourth all-time highest scorer, his 34 goals in European competition is a Chelsea record by 10 goals and his nine strikes in nine cup finals has contributed immensely to the most successful period in the club’s history.

He won three Premier League titles, four FA Cups, two Carling Cups and now, in the most dramatic and glorious of circumstances, the Champions League. He has been named Chelsea’s Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year and won the Premier League Golden Boot twice.

The 34-year-old said: ‘I wanted to put an end to all the speculation and confirm that I am leaving Chelsea. It has been a very difficult decision for me to make and I am very proud of what we have achieved but the time is right for a new challenge for me.

‘As a team we have accomplished so much and have won every single trophy possible. Saturday was a very special moment for everyone at the club and for all the fans, and I am very proud to have played my part in bringing many trophies to this club, which has been my home for the last eight years.

‘I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone at the club especially Roman and my team-mates, many of whom have become very close friends and will be my friends for life. I would also like to say a very special thank you to the Chelsea fans who have shown me so much love and support over the years.

‘I wish the club all the best and continued success for the future – you will always be in my heart.’

Romelo Lukaku On Andre Villas-Boas – ‘I will Never Forgive For What He Did To Me – The Previous Coach’

Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku has launched a stinging attack on former manager Andre Villas-Boas, insisting he will ‘never forgive’ his sacked boss.

Lukaku, 19, accused Villas-Boas of ostracising him from the day he arrived at the club.

Belgium striker Lukaku was signed for £18million at the start of Villas-Boas’ doomed reign as part of a long-standing scouting project but the Portuguese hardly gave the youngster a look-in.

Lukaku told Sport Wereld: ‘There is one person that I will never forgive for what he did to me – the previous coach.’

‘It’s not just that. It was also the way he spoke to me and treated me.

‘Right from the beginning, it was weird. I could not stand how he was treating me. I received no explanation.

‘In training, he put me on the right or left wing. In training matches, I was a substitute with a shirt to keep swapping teams. I really learned nothing!

‘I have told the club that too. I understand that he was under pressure, but I was also thinking of myself. I have improved in recent months.’

“We have had many conversations and, now the season has finished, we will have more talks to see what happens because this is not the role for which I came. I’m not happy. All this makes up for it, of course, but as far the future is concerned, well, football has been fair to me. Right now I do feel it’s all worth it but the truth is I’ve gone through some very bad moments.

Well. that didn’t take very long. Although being ecstatic in winning the FA Cup and Champions League with Chelsea, Fernando Torres didnt temper his words when asked about how he was feeling and with that quote above he was just getting started.

“The worst moments of my career have come during this season and I am not willing to relive those moments. There have been ups and downs, and moments where I’ve felt lost and didn’t know what to do or where to be. I want to thank my family, the club’s owner, who’s always supported me and backed me, and, above all, the fans. If it wasn’t for the fans many times this season I would have thrown in the towel.”

When asked about being left out of the starting line-up against Bayern and not being selected to take a penalty in the end, he says: “In the end I was able to play a bit and help the team but there was huge disappointment when I saw the starting lineup, maybe the biggest disappointment of my life,” Torres said. “This season I felt things I had never felt [before]. I felt they have treated me in a way I was not expecting; not in the manner for which the club brought me here.

“The ideal for me for next season is if someone tells me what’s going to happen,” Torres said. “What role will I have in the team? What function? What is expected of me? And then I have to evaluate if it is worth it. You will see me in London celebrating with everyone and then on Monday in Ibiza. I’m waiting for the announcement of the Spain squad hoping I will be in it feeling better than ever and with greater desire than ever.

“I came to this club to win the Champions League. I’ve now won the Euros, the World Cup and the Champions League.”

* It will be interested to see how things shake out. It is being rumored, heavily I might add, that Didier is ready to ride of into the sunset and sign with a Chinese team for a ridiculous amount of weekly money. But its also being reported that Roman is about to offer him another deal. They play together rarely and it seems like its one or the other to get the call. We’ll see….
