Chelsea put themselves on the brink of qualification for the knockout stages of the Champions League with a comfortable victory over Atletico Madrid. A goal in each half from Ivory Coast international Salomon Kalou, a fine drive from Frank Lampard and an own goal from Luis Perea kept undefeated Chelsea on top of Group D.

In London for their preseason exhibition game, members of the Utah Jazz and Chicago Bulls attended the Chelsea FC versus Liverpool FC match yesterday at Stamford Bridge.  Derrick Rose, Mehmet Okur and Andrei Kirilenko watched the action from the sidelines during Chelsea’s 2-0 victory.

Kirilenko’s favorite team is Chelsea and he was cheering especially hard for the Blues yesterday.  Deron Williams and Kyle Korver also attended the match with the two teams facing off at O2 Arena in London on Tuesday part of NBA Europe Live 2009

Second half goals from Nicolas Anelka and Florent Malouda gave Chelsea a deserved victory over Liverpool and put them two points clear at top of the Barclays Premier League. The France international struck first in the 60th minute when he finished off a sublime low cross from Didier Drogba as Chelsea defied their critics with a performance of grit and quality.

After being ordered to pay 14.7 Million Pound back to former club Chelsea over his Cocaine Scandal in 2004 by the Court of Arbitration of Sport in late July, Romanian International and Fiorentina forward Adrian Mutu has been nowhere near the player that scored 53 goals in 89 Serie A appearances.
