Brian McBride heading to the pitch on Saturday for the Chicago Fire. The Fire would lose 1-0 to DC United. Several Crew fans I met last night already had a nickname for the newest member of the Chicago Fire, and ex-Columbus Crew Captain…….McJudas.

The Open Cup Punch

While the video doesn’t show all of the alleged actions of Cuauhtemoc Blanco or what was happening off camera before the punch, the video speaks for itself.

Wonder if we’ll get to see the full video of the confrontation.

Is man love this strong?

There are few times in a players career that they walk into a GM’s office and ask for a trade. Something either really terrible has happened in their life or something terrible has happened within the team. For Chicago Fire’s William Conde it may be as simple as a Man Crush.

After leaving Colombia’s Millonarios to sign with Profy Juan Carlos Osorio’s Fire, Conde became an important clog in Chicago’s back three and in a defensive midfield tandem with Chris Armas. Fast forward to 2008 pre-season camp and the Fire have lost both Osorio and Armas, and Conde is coming out publicly with his desire to join the NY Red Bulls and Osorio again. The problem is with Armas retiring and the trade of Jim Curtin to Chivas USA, it’s gonna talk A LOT to pry Conde away from new head coach Denis Hamlett and President/Gm John Guppy.

Blazing the way for future hirings, Dennis Hamlett was named Head Coach of the Chicago Fire today.  Congratulations Dennis and hopefully we’ll see Robin Fraser’s name popping up soon.
