TFC loses nine players to international duty, but MLS won’t postpone game.
“I’ve had some challenges in my life,” Carver said. “But never have I faced a situation like I’m facing this week.”
The situation Carver speaks of is that he has lost nine players to international duty as qualifying starts this week for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa leaving him with only one starting defender — Marco Velez — on his roster.
And TFC’s pleas to Major League Soccer that the Saturday game be postponed have fallen on deaf ears.

It’s going to be a tough one after losing 2 - nil in Panama, but Chivas USA did not have to deal with any travel, heat / humidity and a crap field this week.
Remember though, it’s massively important they don’t give up a goal. If they do, they’ll have to score even more in tonight’s CONCACAF Champions League 2nd leg.
Chiva USA left it late, but walks away with a valuable three points in the Western Conference.
While it’s a disappointing loss on the road, Castro’s PK (a vital away goal) will come into play next Tuesday night at New England.
Depth and figuring out how to get results on the road… MLS teams are going to need a lot more depth while having to deal with travel, injuries, suspensions, fans and away pitches.
It’s just not going to get any easier if New England and Chivas USA make it through the Qualification stages.
Preki and his boys are going to have a tough game down in Panama against Tauro FC in the opening round of the Preliminary stages of the 2008-09 Concacaf Champions League.
Tauro FC qualified as the PAN2 team in Concacaf after finishing with the highest points in the ANAPROF Torneo Apertura 2008, has won the most league titles at 7 and is the last Panamanian team to compete in a Confederation Tournament, featuring in the 2002 version.
Very impressive result considering no DeRo, Ching or Onstad.
Chivas USA’s Claudio Suarez and the Los Angeles Dodgers Nomar Garciaparra throwing out the first pitch and exchanging jerseys the other night.
If you haven’t had the pleasure of meeting either one of these guys, they are both two of the nicest, most genuine people you could ever meet.
Is it just me, or does watching this video feel like you’re not supposed to be listening in on their conversation?
Game highlights from last nights match as the LA Galaxy take the cup for the 2008 season.
The post game reactions from Preki and his boys.
