Toluca - Cruz Azul Penalties For The Apertura Title

After coming back from a 2 - 0 deficit and sending the final match of the Apertura season to penalties, Cruz Azul just couldn’t do enough as Toluca took the title after going 7 - 6.

And how unlucky was Yosgart Gutierrez, the Cruz Azul keeper after Toluca’s shot hit the crossbar, bounced off the ground, hit him in the back and rolled in.

Just got done with the Concacaf Champions League first leg between Cruz Azul and Hankook Verdes down at the FSC studios with my boy Jon Herz.

While it’s still only the Preliminaries, Cruz Azul was on fire tonight against a much weaker opponent.

Tomorrow night it’s Puerto Rico Islanders down in Costa Rica against Alajuelense.

Mike Janosz And His Time With Club America

Although some of you have might not have an interest in Mexican Football, I thought I’d share with you an experience I recently had.  A couple of weeks ago I was hired by Las Aguilas de Club America from Mexico City to cover their time in San Diego during the team’s international friendly match against bitter rivals Cruz Azul.  I got to be embedded with the team for 48 hours that included down time at the Hotel and training session on Friday evening in an empty Qualcomm stadium.
